On 19 November, donate your old IT equipment

On 19 November at Diagora Labège, a collection box from the Atelier Numérique d'Emmaüs Agir will be available all day. You can drop off any IT equipment you no longer use: it will be refurbished, then sold at a token price or given to people who cannot afford their own.

The Atelier Numérique d'Emmaüs Agir

Emmaüs Agir (Association Garonnaise d'Insertion par la Récupération) is a Toulouse non-profit and a member of Emmaüs France. Its Atelier Numérique, run by volunteers, refurbishes the IT equipment donated to it.

You may have met them at DevFest 2025 as Emmaüs Connect: the Toulouse team has since joined Emmaüs Agir, and its work has not changed.

What is collected

Personal or business equipment:

  • laptops and desktop computers;

  • monitors;

  • keyboards and mice;

  • phones, unlocked.

A complete fleet of computers is especially useful: it can equip several people at once.

Why donate

In France, half of the carbon footprint of digital technology comes from devices, and most of it comes from manufacturing them. Keeping a machine in use for longer is a direct lever.

Before you donate a device

A device still linked to an Apple or Google account cannot be refurbished. Before you donate it:

  1. back up your data;

  2. remove the device from your account and reset it:

    • Apple: on iCloud.com/find or in the Find My app, select the device, choose Erase, then Remove from Account;

    • Android: on android.com/find, select the device and restore factory settings, or on the device, Settings, System, Reset options, Erase all data;

  3. bring phones unlocked.

The association has no access to your personal data, and erases it if you have not already done so.

Put your equipment in your bag today, so you don't forget it on the 19th.

Can't make it to DevFest?

Drop your equipment off at one of the six Emmaüs Agir shops in the Toulouse area (addresses on emmaus-agir-31.fr). To donate on another date, a complete fleet for example, write to atelier-numerique@emmausagir.fr.

The collection is one of DevFest Toulouse's commitments, alongside the code of conduct, Tech Speak'Her's coaching of women speakers, the place given to Toulouse tech communities and live captioning of talks.
